TITLE/POSITION: Privatization Intern (Maldivians Only)

BACKGROUND
The PFM Maldives Activity is 5-year, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The Activity seeks to develop the capacity of the Government of Maldives (GOM) such that it can achieve the following objectives: 1) Establishing and implementing a transparent and accountable budgetary system that leads to improved national budget allocations and management; 2) Identifying and implementing efficient public investments in services and facilities; and 3) Mobilizing sufficient public revenue, commensurate with public investments and services. PFM Maldives will work with the Ministry of Finance (MOF), the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (MNPHI), and other agencies as needed through strategic technical assistance and targeted project interventions aimed at improving their ability to make appropriate and cost-effective budget decisions.
OBJECTIVE
The intern shall primarily assist the Privatization Expert in a timely and efficient manner, in her work related to the privatization of identified State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) as well as on public-private partnerships (PPPs). The selected intern shall work on aspects such as data collection and analysis, conducting research (primary and/or secondary) and developing case studies, preparing business cases and information memoranda including business valuation of the enterprises.
Further, the intern shall undertake and complete in a timely and efficient manner any other work assigned by the experts related to Objective 2 mentioned above, or the Chief of Party (COP) of PFM Maldives.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Relevant university-level qualifications at degree preferably in Finance and alternatively in economics, business administration or investment analysis. Preferably completed or undergoing a post-graduate level education.
• High-level proficiency in English and Dhivehi as well as well-developed report writing skills.
• Good communications skills, being able to communicate effectively with superiors and clients.
• Good judgment in dealing with complex and sensitive issues.
• Good analytical ability. Good skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

REPORTING
The Intern will report to the COP in completing tasks and work in close coordination with the Privatization Expert and Public Investment & PPP lead, of PFM Maldives.
